Fatima Zahra Makes History, Pakistan Secures First Boxing Medal at Islamic Solidarity Games
Fatima Zahra, a 27-year-old boxer from Sargodha, made history for Pakistan. She defeated Algeria’s Hamda Melissa 5–0 in a stunning quarterfinal match at the Islamic Solidarity Games. As a result, she guaranteed Pakistan’s first boxing medal in the tournament.
From the first bell, Fatima showed complete control. Her sharp jabs and quick footwork kept her opponent on defense. Melissa tried to fight back in the later rounds. However, Fatima stayed calm and confident, sealing her win with style.
A Journey of Dedication and Pride
Fatima began boxing in 2018. Since then, she has become one of Pakistan’s most consistent athletes. She holds four consecutive national titles in her weight class. In addition, she has represented Pakistan at the Asian Games and Olympic qualifiers.
Pakistan sent 55 athletes to this year’s Islamic Solidarity Games. They are competing in various sports, including boxing, athletics, swimming, taekwondo, and wrestling. Fatima’s victory adds a proud moment to the nation’s growing sporting achievements.
Her performance inspires many young athletes, especially women, to pursue their dreams. Therefore, Fatima’s triumph is more than a win—it’s a symbol of hope and progress for Pakistan’s sports community.
