Fresh Snowfall and Rain Grip Northern Pakistan, Disrupt Travel and Deepen Cold

A fresh spell of snowfall and rain grips northern Pakistan, lowering temperatures and disrupting travel across Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The cold wave has intensified, affecting residents and tourists alike.

Snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Snow covered the mountain ranges of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Babusar, Nanga Parbat, and Batogah. The heavy flakes trapped more than a dozen vehicles, prompting rescue teams to launch quick operations.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, snow blanketed Swat, Dir, and Kalam. Rain and hail in Upper Hazara dropped temperatures sharply. Thick clouds turned daytime skies dark, reducing visibility.

Tourist Areas and Weather Warnings

Tourist spots like Ayubia, Nathiagali, Changlagali, and the upper Galyat received up to three inches of snow. The winter beauty thrilled visitors but raised safety concerns.
Muzaffarabad and Neelum Valley also experienced snow and rain, increasing the chill. Authorities urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and drive carefully on slippery roads.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) forecast more snowfall in several parts of KP. It ordered district administrations to stay alert and take preventive steps against accidents.
Officials advised travelers to check weather updates before heading to mountain areas. Despite disruptions, tourists continue to visit northern Pakistan to enjoy its snow-covered landscapes.
