Riot Games has confirmed the eight teams set to compete in the first League of Legends Game Changers Rising (LGC) event, a new women’s EMEA tournament inspired by the success of VALORANT’s Game Changers. The competition kicks off on September 13 with group stages, leading into playoffs on October 13, and will conclude at Paris Games Week on October 30 alongside the EMEA Masters Summer Finals.
Three squads were directly invited due to their ties with LEC organizations: G2 Hel, SK Avarosa, and Vitality Rising Bees. They are joined by Solary Academy, Nexus Reapers, and Galions Pearl, who advanced through the Equal Esports Cup. The final two slots went to Eterna and Zerance Bloom, who emerged victorious from an open qualifier involving 66 teams.
G2 Hel and Solary Academy enter as early favorites, having displayed dominant performances earlier this year. Meanwhile, Nexus Reapers and Vitality Rising Bees are seen as potential dark horses, featuring rosters of veteran competitors. The LGC Rising rules mirror those of VALORANT Game Changers, with eligibility limited to players identifying as women. Riot emphasized that this inaugural edition is a pilot project designed to establish a sustainable path for future tournaments and further grow the competitive women’s scene in League of Legends.
