Glasgow Vape Shop Fire Witness Tried to Tackle Blaze Before Explosions
An eyewitness tried to tackle a fire at a Glasgow vape shop. Lamin Kongira saw the blaze near Central Station on Sunday afternoon. However, he had to abandon his attempt after a series of explosions. The fire broke out at the Union Street shop around 3:45 PM. Later, the entire building became engulfed in an inferno. The blaze caused the building to partially collapse.
Witness Account
Lamin told BBC Scotland News he was walking past. A shopkeeper ran out shouting “fire, fire.” He ran inside and saw a small fire under the counter. There was an adapter charging system full of chargers. That’s where the fire started, he explained. Therefore, this Glasgow vape shop fire began with electrical equipment.
Explosions Forced Retreat
Lamin tried to fight the small blaze initially. But explosions soon forced him to retreat. The fire quickly grew out of control. Fire crews arrived to battle the massive blaze. The building suffered severe structural damage. Investigations into the cause continue.
