Google is set to roll out a major Play Games update on September 23, 2025, introducing Steam-style public profiles that highlight gaming stats, milestones, and achievements across Android titles and Play Games on Windows.
Currently, Play Games profiles offer limited visibility, focusing mainly on achievements. The upcoming update will allow players to track playtime, showcase progress, and access new social features, bringing the service closer to Steam’s community-driven experience. Users will be able to customize profile visibility settings to control who can see their data.
According to Google’s support documentation, developers may also share gameplay data with Google, helping improve the Play Games ecosystem. However, privacy settings will carry over, ensuring players’ choices remain intact.
The rollout begins on September 23 for most regions, while the EU and UK will see the update on October 1. Google confirmed that these changes will apply automatically, with no action required from users.
This update signals Google’s renewed push to position Play Games as a central hub for both mobile and PC gaming, strengthening its competitive stance against established platforms like Steam.
