Gothic 1 Remake Launches June 5 at Lower Price Than Major RPGs

Gothic 1 Remake Launches June 5 at Lower Price Than Major RPGs

Developer Alkimia Interactive and publisher THQ Nordic announce Gothic 1 Remake launches June 5 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Gothic 1 Remake release costs $49.99 on PC, significantly cheaper than the standard $70 for major releases. Console versions cost $59.99 but include the original Gothic as a free bonus. The game is a full remake of the acclaimed 2001 title rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. Pre-orders are now open with no expected delays according to the announcement. The story takes place in the Kingdom of Myrtana where King Rhobar II orders vast mining of magical ore. The ore is needed to craft weapons for fending off invading orcs.

What the Remake Offers

A mage creates a magical barrier surrounding the mine to keep orcs out. The barrier accidentally traps the miners inside who establish their own lawless territory. The King must negotiate with these new rulers as tensions rise among factions. The arrival of an unknown prisoner changes everything according to the synopsis.
Extended questlines, new NPC routines and reactions, and additional traversal abilities appear in the remake. A modernized combat system updates the classic gameplay for modern audiences. Players complete quests, side quests, explore, and solve environmental puzzles. Befriending NPCs, upgrading weapons, and improving skills round out the RPG experience.

Free Prologue Available Now

A free prologue called the Nyras Prologue is available on all launch platforms now. The prologue tells an original story set before the events of Gothic 1 Remake. Players assume the role of a prisoner on their first day within the prison colony. No main game content appears in this standalone prologue.
The Elder Scrolls VI remains years away with no update in eight years. Gothic 1 Remake offers a compelling alternative for open-world RPG fans. The reasonable price point makes this remake accessible to more players. June 5 marks the arrival of this classic revival.
