59 PTI leaders and sympathizers have been sentenced to 10 years in prison by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Faisalabad for their roles in the May 9, 2023, riots, particularly in connection with an attack on PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah’s home. PTI leaders made up 17 of the guilty, while 16 more were sentenced to three years in prison. 34 people were found not guilty, including MP Zain Qureshi and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry. More than 100 PTI members, including well-known individuals like Omar Ayub Khan and Shibli Faraz, were given prison terms ranging from one to ten years, according to the report. The prosecution’s case was upheld by the court “without a shadow of doubt.”
