Holy Family Hospital Salary Cut Sparks Staff Appeal in Punjab

At Holy Family Hospital, a hospital salary cut has caused serious worry among staff. Around 115 employees received pay for only 22 days instead of 30. As a result, many workers have appealed for immediate support.
These employees serve in different hospital departments every day. They work under the 2024 contract policy, along with permanent and work-charge staff. However, the hospital linked the issue to a shortage of funds.

Employees Demand Full Salaries

Workers reported salary cuts for January and February 2026. They lost payment for eight days each month. Therefore, many families now face financial stress.
Employees urged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take action. They want a proper salary system that ensures regular payments. In addition, they asked the government to stop future delays.
Staff members said they continue caring for patients despite these problems. They believe fair wages help healthcare workers stay motivated. For example, many departments depend on these employees for daily services.
Several workers also raised concerns about job security. They want clear policies that protect all staff equally. As a result, they continue demanding transparency from authorities.

Hospital Seeks Government Guidance

Hospital management has also contacted the Punjab government for direction. Medical Superintendent Dr Akhtar Mahmood Malik wrote to the Specialized Healthcare Department. He requested clear rules about salaries and employment status.
Officials explained that limited funds in the Commercial and Personal Ledger Account caused the reduced payments. However, employees want long-term solutions instead of temporary fixes. Meanwhile, workers compared their situation with other Rawalpindi hospitals. Daily-wage staff at Benazir Bhutto General Hospital and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital still lack permanent status. They have also appealed for regular jobs.
Many healthcare workers hope the Punjab government will respond quickly. A fair salary system could improve morale and strengthen hospital services for everyone.
