Imran Khan to Challenge Toshakhana-II Rulings in Islamabad High Court

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will challenge Toshakhana-II rulings in the Islamabad High Court on Monday. Their legal team has finalized the appeals. Therefore, the former prime minister hopes the court will overturn the verdicts.
Lawyers will submit two separate appeals on the same day. Barrister Salman Safdar will represent both petitioners. As a result, the court will hear connected arguments together.

Legal Flaws Cited in Appeals

The appeals question how the trial court handled evidence. For example, the court relied on the statement of Inamullah Shah. Authorities had already dismissed him from service.
The defense argues that courts cannot convict anyone based on such testimony. In addition, the trial court relied on an approver’s statement. The appellants say this move violates settled legal principles.
The petitions also challenge the court’s authority. According to the defense, the Special Central Court lacked jurisdiction in the case. Therefore, the verdicts hold no legal value.
Lawyers further state that prosecutors failed to prove the charges. They argue the investigation remained weak and incomplete. As a result, the evidence could not meet legal standards.

Claims of Political Targeting

The appeals also highlight alleged political pressure. Imran Khan’s legal team claims officials registered the case without a fair inquiry. However, they insist the matter reflects victimization rather than justice.
The defense also challenges the status of Sohaib Abbasi. They argue authorities unlawfully made him an approver. This decision, they say, damaged the trial’s credibility.
Moreover, the appeals state that the Bulgari jewelry followed Toshakhana rules. The couple retained the items legally under existing regulations. Therefore, they deny any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Imran Khan has called for peaceful protests nationwide. He urged supporters to stand for justice. In conclusion, the Islamabad High Court will now decide the future of the case.
