Porsche is redefining in-car entertainment with the introduction of a built-in gaming system in the upcoming Porsche Macan, launching later this year. Partnering with Swiss startup AirConsole, this innovation is set to transform ordinary rides into exciting shared gaming experiences, all while ensuring driver safety.
Passengers will be able to enjoy a curated library of popular games including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? UNO Car Party! Overcooked, and Pac-Man. The system allows up to five players to connect using their smartphones as controllers. When the car is on the move, gameplay will appear on the front passenger display, ensuring that the driver remains distraction-free.
Adding to the immersive experience, Porsche has integrated the car’s ambient lighting into the gameplay. For example, in UNO, the lights change colors depending on the card played, while in Pac-Man, the colors shift when Pac-Man eats a power pellet.
AirConsole CEO Anthony Cliquot praised the partnership as a sign of rapid growth in automotive gaming. Since launching in 2023, AirConsole has already been integrated into vehicles from BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen. Cliquot also emphasized that such innovations are designed with the future of autonomous cars in mind, where vehicles will serve as entertainment spaces in addition to being a mode of transport.
The Porsche-AirConsole system will be available in all markets where Porsche Connect operates, excluding China. More details are expected to be revealed at the IAA Motor Show in Munich this September.
With this development, Porsche joins a growing trend of merging gaming and driving, ensuring passengers stay entertained — whether on long journeys or while waiting in a parked car.
