Islamabad Attack Probe Advances as Pakistan Arrests Key Facilitators
Islamabad attack probe efforts have reached a major breakthrough. Pakistani authorities arrested several suspects linked to the deadly suicide bombing in Tarlai Kalan. The attack struck an imambargah during Friday prayers and shocked the entire nation.
Major Arrests After Intelligence Raids
Security and intelligence agencies launched raids in Peshawar and Nowshera. They arrested four facilitators who helped the suicide bomber carry out the attack. Officials used technical surveillance and human intelligence to track them down.
Authorities also captured an Afghan mastermind connected to Daesh. Investigators said the group planned and directed the attack from Afghanistan. As a result, officials warned that terrorist networks still threaten peace across the region.
During these operations, one security officer embraced martyrdom. Three others sustained injuries while performing their duties. However, law enforcement agencies continue further intelligence-based actions to stop more violence.
Investigators identified the bomber as Yasir, a resident of Peshawar. Officials also detained people close to him, including family members and suspected helpers. Sources said some facilitators provided support in Rawalpindi as well.
Attack Details and National Mourning
Officials revealed that Yasir conducted reconnaissance before the bombing. He reportedly visited the imambargah a week earlier. He also stayed in Afghanistan for nearly four months before returning to Pakistan.
According to preliminary findings, the attacker fired shots before entering the mosque. He then detonated explosives inside the main hall. Investigators said he carried four to six kilograms of explosives packed with ball bearings.
The blast killed at least 32 worshippers and injured around 169 others. It became Islamabad’s deadliest attack in over a decade. Therefore, the tragedy triggered grief and anger across the country.
Interior officials confirmed the bomber’s identity through forensic evidence. They also traced his travel history to Afghanistan.
On Saturday, funeral prayers took place under heavy security. Leaders, scholars, and citizens stood together in sorrow. Mourners prayed for the victims and demanded swift justice. The nation now looks toward stronger action against those responsible.
