Islamabad Vehicle E-Tag Rollout Starts 18 November

Islamabad Vehicle E-Tag Rollout Starts 18 November

Islamabad will launch the Islamabad vehicle E-Tag system on 18 November. The city aims to improve security and create smoother travel for everyone. Drivers can collect their stickers from official points that authorities will announce soon.
The process will stay simple for all vehicle owners. Drivers only need to present their registration card. In addition, the system will apply to vehicles registered in any city.

E-Tag Collection Steps

Officials plan clear and accessible options for residents. They will set up several collection points across Islamabad. Each point will follow strict checks to ensure secure distribution.
Drivers must visit only approved locations. This rule will help the administration keep accurate records. It also prevents unauthorized sticker handling. However, drivers should plan early to avoid possible delays once distribution begins.
Authorities expect the system to improve overall safety. For example, E-Tags will help teams monitor vehicle movement in real time. As a result, they can respond faster during emergencies.

Security Measures After Recent Attack

The government introduced this system after a deadly attack near the district and sessions court in G-11. The blast killed 12 people and injured many others. The tragedy deeply affected the community.
Leaders now want stronger safeguards for all residents. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry stated that every vehicle entering or operating in Islamabad will need an E-Tag. He said no vehicle will move on the roads without it. This rule aims to support quicker identification and improved monitoring.
The E-Tag plan forms part of broader safety efforts. It aims to prevent threats, support investigations, and protect communities. Islamabad hopes these steps will create safer roads and a more secure environment for everyone.
