Karachi Acts Against Bogus Inspection Papers to Boost Road Safety
The Sindh Transport Department has launched action against bogus inspection papers to improve road safety. Authorities want to stop unsafe vehicles from operating on city roads. As a result, officials have tightened enforcement across the province.
Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon issued firm instructions. He warned transporters against ignoring safety laws. Therefore, the government plans zero tolerance for violations.
Action Against Fake Fitness Certificates
Minister Memon directed officials to register criminal cases against offenders. In addition, he ordered the Provincial Transport Authority to submit a detailed report within three days. Authorities will also cancel route permits of involved vehicles.
Some transporters use bogus inspection papers to avoid physical vehicle checks. However, officials say this practice endangers lives. Unsafe vehicles increase accident
risks for passengers and pedestrians.
The minister called the practice illegal and irresponsible. He said public safety remains a top priority. Moreover, he assured strict action without discrimination.
The government aims to create a transparent transport system. Officials want safer travel for everyone, including families and daily commuters. As a result, enforcement teams will increase inspections.
Police Launch Drive Against Illegal Number Plates
Meanwhile, Karachi police announced a citywide crackdown on illegal number plates. The operation will start on Friday, December 19, 2025. Officers will target fake, fancy, and hidden registration numbers.
Additional Inspector General Javed Alam Odho shared the plan at a press conference. He appeared with traffic police, excise officials, and citizen representatives. Together, they stressed coordination.
Police say altered plates help drivers evade penalties. However, enforcement teams will act swiftly. In the end, authorities expect safer roads and better compliance.
