Karachi Consulate Clashes Leave 10 Dead After Khamenei Killing

Karachi Consulate Clashes left at least 10 people dead on Sunday after protests erupted over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Demonstrators marched toward the US Consulate on MT Khan Road. Police tried to block the crowd, and violence broke out. As a result, several people died and more than 30 suffered injuries.
The Edhi Welfare Organisation confirmed that nine people died near Mai Kolachi Road. Doctors at Civil Hospital later announced that another injured person passed away. Therefore, the death toll rose to 10. Authorities continue to treat 32 injured people and are identifying the victims.

Protest Turns Violent in Karachi

Protesters breached the outer security barrier of the consulate and damaged property. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. However, some protesters threw stones and set a traffic police post on fire.
Sindh officials formed a joint investigation team to review the incident. They promised a transparent inquiry and accountability. In addition, the government urged citizens to protest peacefully and respect the law.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described the day as one of mourning. He asked people to remain calm and avoid violence. Religious leaders also appealed for unity and restraint during this tense period.

Security Tightened Nationwide

Authorities increased security in Islamabad and Lahore after protests spread. Officials sealed Islamabad’s Red Zone and enforced Section 144. As a result, they banned public gatherings and increased patrols.
In Lahore, protesters gathered outside the Press Club and raised slogans. Police strengthened security around diplomatic missions and sensitive locations.
Meanwhile, US officials advised their citizens to avoid large crowds. They encouraged people to monitor local news and stay alert. The United States and Israel confirmed the air strike that killed Khamenei. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks in the region. Consequently, tensions remain high as Pakistan faces unrest and calls for calm.
