Karachi, Islamabad Face Road Closures During Youm-e-Quds Rallies

Several major roads in Karachi and Islamabad remained closed on Friday during rallies marking Youm-e-Quds. Authorities implemented a special Youm-e-Quds traffic plan to manage security and crowds. As a result, commuters faced diversions across several busy routes.
Traffic police deployed officers across important intersections. They guided drivers and helped control congestion. In addition, authorities shared regular updates through traffic helplines and radio services.

Karachi Roads Affected by Rallies

Karachi Traffic Police said the main rally began from Numaish Chowrangi after Friday prayers. Participants moved toward Aman Tower through central roads. Later in the afternoon, another procession started from the same point. The rally continued toward M. A. Jinnah Road and concluded after evening prayers. Because of the gatherings, several key roads remained closed for hours. For example, the route from Boat Basin to Jinnah Bridge stayed shut.
In addition, authorities closed M. T. Khan Road from PIDC to Jinnah Bridge in both directions. However, traffic police introduced alternate routes to reduce congestion. Drivers heading toward the Tower used Gurumandar, Soldier Bazar, and Bahadur Yar Jung Road.
Likewise, vehicles coming from Nazimabad, Garden, and Saddar followed designated diversions. Traffic officers remained present on major roads to assist commuters. Citizens could also contact the Traffic  Police helpline 1915 for guidance.

Islamabad Enforces Red Zone Restrictions

Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police enforced security measures around the Red Zone. These steps affected several roads in the federal capital. Authorities closed all routes leading to Iran Avenue during the restrictions.
Similarly, Suhrawardy Road from Aabpara remained closed for incoming and outgoing traffic. Officials also shut Jinnah Avenue from the Erdogan Flyover to Kulsum Plaza Chowk. In addition, the Seventh Avenue Bridge and Fazal-e-Haq Road up to Geo Chowk remained closed.
Some routes experienced partial closures instead of full restrictions. For example, Club Road near Rawal Dam and Park Road near Shehzad Town remained open on one side. Officials advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the Youm-e-Quds traffic restrictions and follow alternate routes to reduce delays.
