Khairpur Highway Crash Kills 11, Sparks Urgent Safety Action
At least 11 people lost their lives in the Khairpur highway crash on Sunday. The tragic accident happened near Tando Masti in Sindh’s Khairpur district. More than 10 others suffered injuries, leaving many families in grief.
Rescue Operation and Immediate Response
Officials said the passenger coach hit a trailer due to reckless driving. Motorway Police rushed to the scene without delay. Rescue teams quickly moved injured people to nearby hospitals.
Senior police officers supervised relief work on the highway. In addition, Rescue 1122 and local police supported the operation. Authorities also worked to clear traffic and restore normal road flow.
Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho directed the SSP Khairpur to personally oversee rescue efforts. He also ordered routes to stay open for ambulances. As a result, injured passengers received faster medical help.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori expressed deep sorrow over the loss. He shared condolences with families and prayed for the injured. The Chief Minister also asked hospitals to provide the best treatment possible.
Inquiry and Safety Measures Ordered
Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan took notice of the deadly crash. Therefore, he ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident. Motorway Police must submit a detailed report soon.
The minister stressed strict vehicle fitness checks, especially tire conditions. For example, vehicles with weak or expired tires will not enter motorways. Authorities will inspect both commercial and private transport closely.
Officials reminded everyone that overspeeding has serious consequences. In addition, they urged drivers to follow traffic laws for safer travel. This tragedy highlights the urgent need for stronger road safety enforcement.
