Korangi Operation Targets Extremist Facilitators in Karachi Crackdown
Security forces carried out a major Karachi Crackdown Operation in Korangi on Friday. Sindh Rangers and CTD police worked together during the raid. Therefore, they arrested three highly wanted suspects.
Officials say the suspects supported a banned extremist group. In addition, authorities recovered dangerous explosive material during the operation.
Joint Raid in Korangi
Sindh Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department launched an intelligence-based operation in Chakragoth. They arrested Yasir Arafat, Khuda Bakhsh, and Zahid Hussain alias Barkazai. As a result, security teams stopped a possible threat in Karachi.
Authorities recovered five kilograms of explosives from the suspects. They also seized 10 meters of prima cord, three detonators, and one kilogram of ball bearings. Rangers officials confirmed the items could have been used in attacks.
Officers also found 250 boxes of extremist literature and a laptop. Moreover, officials said the suspects spread radical content and supported recruitment activities.
Rangers revealed that the accused allegedly targeted students from colleges and universities. For example, they distributed extremist material to expand the network. Officials believe this effort aimed to influence young minds.
Security teams also discovered that the suspects hid explosives at a secret location. Therefore, authorities suspect they planned attacks on sensitive sites in Karachi.
Ongoing Action Against Banned Outfits
After the arrests, officials handed the suspects over to police. Investigators will now continue questioning and legal proceedings. As a result, authorities hope to uncover more links to the banned group.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police addressed separate allegations of fake encounters. Officials denied claims against the Crime Control Department. They submitted their response before the Lahore High Court.
Punjab Police stated that CCD operations follow legal procedures. However, the court will continue reviewing the matter.
Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to intelligence-based operations. In addition, they aim to maintain peace and protect communities across the country. Authorities say they will keep targeting banned outfits and their facilitators to ensure long-term stability.
