KRL Clinch Karachi Final Victory in President’s Cup One-Day Thriller
Khan Research Laboratories delivered a memorable Karachi final victory with a composed performance in the President’s Cup final. The match took place at the National Bank Stadium and kept fans engaged until the end.
PTV chose to bat first after winning the toss. However, their innings struggled to gain momentum. As a result, they were dismissed for 164 runs in 40.2 overs.
Captain Shamyl Hussain led from the front with a fighting half-century. He scored 50 off 44 balls, including six fours and two sixes. However, other batters failed to build strong partnerships.
KRL bowlers stayed disciplined throughout the innings. Ahmad Hassan and Sufyan Moqim claimed three wickets each. In addition, Ahmed Bashir supported well with two crucial breakthroughs.
Strong Batting Effort Secures the Trophy
While chasing 165, KRL started aggressively. Wicketkeeper Saad Baig added early momentum with 23 quick runs. However, a few early wickets tested their resolve.
Shahzaib Khan then steadied the innings with a patient knock. He scored 53 runs off 83 balls, anchoring the chase. Therefore, pressure slowly shifted back to PTV.
Skipper Iftikhar Ahmed contributed a useful 25 runs. Later, Muhammad Amir Barki finished the match confidently with an unbeaten 21. KRL reached the target in 34.4 overs. As a result, KRL lifted the trophy and earned PKR 5 million. PTV finished as runners-up with PKR 2.5 million.
Shahzaib earned Player of the Match and topped the batting charts. Meanwhile, Iftikhar won Player of the Tournament for his all-round effort. Sufyan secured the best bowler award, while Taimur Khan claimed best wicketkeeper honors.
