M-5 Motorway Repair Speeds Up After Minister’s Inspection

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the flood-hit section of the M-5 Motorway near Jalalpur Pirwala on Tuesday. The visit focused on the pace of M-5 Motorway Repair efforts. He reviewed the situation closely and called for quick solutions to support commuters.
Khan directed the National Highway Authority to restore one-way traffic by November 30. He also asked officials to reduce inconvenience for travelers as much as possible. In addition, he stressed the need for visible progress on every damaged stretch.
The minister examined the rehabilitation work with engineers from the NHA. He reminded them to follow strict quality standards. He also warned that the government will not accept poorly executed work at any stage. As a result, officials now face tighter monitoring and faster reporting.

Strict Instructions for Quality and Speed

Khan ordered the NHA to submit a detailed progress report within a week. He said he will return for a follow-up visit soon. Therefore, officials must stay focused on meeting deadlines.
He inspected nearby service areas and rest houses along the corridor. The poor condition of several facilities frustrated him. He reprimanded responsible staff and directed them to fix all issues without delay.

Improved Facilities for Commuters

The minister highlighted the need for clean restrooms and working traveler services. He also called for stocked tuck shops and well-maintained rest areas. In addition, he stated that every commuter deserves safe and hygienic amenities, especially during repair periods.
Khan reaffirmed the ministry’s goal to fully restore the motorway as quickly as possible. Earlier, NHA officials briefed him about ongoing repair operations and future plans. He emphasized teamwork and accountability to deliver long-term improvements for the region.
