M-Tag Entry Rule: Islamabad to Block Vehicles Without Tags From January 1
Islamabad will enforce a new M-Tag entry rule starting January 1. Vehicles without an M-Tag will not enter the city. Authorities aim to strengthen security and improve traffic monitoring.
Officials said the decision supports digital tracking at entry points. It will also help manage traffic flow more efficiently. As a result, security screening will become faster and more accurate.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the move during a high-level meeting. He stressed the importance of modern systems for a growing capital. According to him, technology plays a key role in public safety.
Smart City Plan Gains Momentum
Naqvi directed officials to accelerate work on the Capital Smart City project. The plan focuses on upgrading existing infrastructure. It will integrate cameras, data systems, and real-time monitoring tools.
Authorities want better coordination across the city. Therefore, teams will link surveillance networks with traffic systems. This step will improve response times during emergencies.
Naqvi also inspected the main control room. He visited the special Chinese desk during the tour. He highlighted the need to protect lives, property, and strategic interests.
Technology Boosts Law Enforcement
During the visit, Naqvi toured the Safe City Headquarters. He was accompanied by Minister of State Talal Chaudhry. Together, they reviewed live feeds on the digital wall.
Officials explained how technology supports daily operations. Cameras and analytics help track suspicious activity. In addition, digital tools assist officers on the ground.
Authorities believe the new rule will encourage compliance. It will also promote safer and smarter mobility. Citizens are advised to install M-Tags before the deadline.
