Matloob Ahmed Clinches Fourth CNS Open Title with Commanding Finish

Matloob Ahmed showed nerves of steel at the CNS Open Golf Championship in Karachi. Holding a narrow lead, he played with confidence and control. As a result, he never allowed the chasing pack a real opening.
The Matloob Ahmed CNS Open victory came after another stunning round of 66. In addition, it marked his second straight day at six-under par. Therefore, he sealed his fourth title, six years after his last win.
Matloob had surged ahead on Saturday with a blistering third round. However, Sunday’s final round proved just as important. While many expected a tight finish, his rivals struggled to keep pace.

Rivals Fall Away as Matloob Pulls Clear

By the final hole, Matloob finished at 19-under 269. He won by five strokes over Minhaj Maqsood Warraich, who closed with a solid 67. As a result, the gap proved too large to overcome.
Shabbir Iqbal and Mohammad Zubair started close behind. However, rounds of 71 and 73 dropped them to third and fifth. Meanwhile, defending champion Ahmed Baig finished fourth after a strong closing 66.
Matloob set the tone early with birdies on the first and third holes. In contrast, Shabbir lost momentum and slipped further after a bogey on the 10th. Therefore, the pressure stayed firmly on the chasers.
A run of five birdies from the 12th hole sealed the title. Even a late bogey could not change the outcome. As a result, Matloob walked away a deserved champion.
Beyond the main event, Shahbaz Ali won the junior professionals title. Mohammad Tariq claimed the senior crown, while Hannah Amjad topped the ladies’ field.
The Matloob Ahmed CNS Open triumph once again confirmed his place among Pakistan’s elite golfers.
