Michigan Synagogue Ramming “Hate, Plain and Simple,” Governor Says
A vehicle rammed into a synagogue near Detroit on Thursday. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer called it antisemitism and “hate, plain and simple.” The attack targeted Temple Israel.The FBI is now investigating the incident. Officials call it a “targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.” However, a motive for the crime remains unclear.
No Children Hurt
No staff or children at the synagogue were injured. The attached school was also untouched. A security guard suffered injuries and is receiving treatment. Law enforcement expects the guard to recover fully.
Suspect Identified
Police identified the suspect as Ayman Mohamad Ghazali. He drove “with purpose down the hall of the building.” Security guards then “neutralised” him at the scene.
