Mike Hesson calls on Pakistan to display more discipline following loss to India.

Former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has urged Pakistan to show greater discipline and composure after their disappointing defeat to arch-rivals India. The much-anticipated clash, which once again drew massive attention across the cricketing world, highlighted both the strengths and weaknesses of the Pakistani side.
Hesson, speaking in a post-match analysis, pointed out that Pakistan’s lack of consistency in key moments allowed India to take control of the contest. He emphasized that while Pakistan possesses immense talent, the absence of discipline—both in shot selection and execution of bowling plans—continues to hold them back in high-pressure matches.
“Pakistan have the players to compete with any side in the world,” Hesson noted. “But discipline is what separates a good team from a winning team. Against India, we saw lapses that shifted momentum quickly and made recovery difficult.”
Pakistan’s batting once again came under scrutiny, with several top-order players failing to convert starts into substantial scores. Hesson stressed that patience and responsibility are crucial in big encounters, especially when facing a strong bowling attack like India’s. He also pointed to fielding errors and bowling inconsistencies that compounded Pakistan’s problems.
The defeat has reignited conversations around Pakistan’s ability to handle pressure in marquee games. Hesson suggested that learning from these situations, rather than dwelling on them, is the only way forward. “If they can harness their natural flair with a bit more structure and composure, Pakistan will be a very dangerous side,” he said.
Looking ahead, Pakistan face crucial matches that could define their tournament campaign. Hesson believes a disciplined approach will not only boost their confidence but also send a strong message to future opponents.
