Mobile Health Unit Concludes Lifesaving Work in Pakistan’s Flood-Hit Neelum District

A crucial mobile health project has successfully ended in a flood-affected region of Pakistan. The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) wrapped up its Mobile Health Unit (MHU) project in District Neelum on Friday. The initiative directly served communities devastated by the 2025 monsoon floods.
The three-month project was funded by the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF). It aimed to bridge critical gaps in primary healthcare for vulnerable populations. Teams provided essential medical services, consultations, and free medicines directly at people’s doorsteps.

A Ceremony to Honor Dedicated Service

A special ceremony marked the project’s conclusion. It honored the MHU team’s dedicated work in extremely challenging conditions. Key stakeholders from the government, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and PRCS attended.
AJK’s Most Senior Minister, Mian Abdul Waheed, was the Chief Guest. He emphasized the need for anticipatory action against climate disasters. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the government’s full support for the PRCS’s humanitarian mission.

Providing a Lifeline to Isolated Communities

PRCS AJK Chairman Sardar Shafique Ahmed Khan called the MHU a critical lifeline. Despite bad weather and damaged roads, the team reached thousands. They cared for women, children, and pregnant mothers whose access to healthcare was severely disrupted by the floods.
“Disasters do not wait, neither should our response,” Chairman Khan stated. He stressed that while the project ends, the commitment to building community resilience continues without pause.

Gratitude for Collaboration and Support

Secretary PRCS AJK, Ms. Gulzar Fatima, detailed the project’s achievements. She expressed deep gratitude to the AJK Government, Pakistan Army, and Neelum District Administration for their collaboration. She also thanked the IFRC and PRCS National Headquarters for their vital financial and technical support.
During the event, appreciation shields were presented to the Minister and the MHU team. The ceremony highlighted the power of partnership in delivering effective humanitarian aid during crises.
