Murad Ali Shah Civil Hospital Plan: Rs100bn Upgrade Approved in Karachi
Murad Ali Shah has approved the Civil Hospital Plan to upgrade healthcare in Karachi. He shared this decision during a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s House. Moreover, the Sindh government will release Rs50 billion to support the project.
Officials said the plan will improve services and expand hospital capacity. Work on the Abdul Sattar Edhi Medical Tower will start immediately. As a result, patients will receive faster and better care across departments.
Expansion and Modern Facilities
The Civil Hospital Plan focuses on growth and modernisation. Currently, Civil Hospital Karachi has 2,142 beds. However, the expansion will add 500 new beds to meet rising demand.
The project will introduce several new facilities. For example, it will include a modern medical tower and a surgical ward. In addition, authorities will build a new outpatient department and a burns unit.
The plan also includes a jail ward and a modern mortuary. Furthermore, improved waste management systems will ensure better hygiene. New administrative blocks and hostels will support doctors and nurses.
Officials aim to use space more efficiently. Therefore, they will replace outdated buildings with vertical towers. This approach will help deliver more services within limited space.
Traffic and Heritage Preservation
The Civil Hospital Plan also addresses traffic challenges around the hospital. Authorities will widen Yakoob Khan Road and Bezanji Road. As a result, ambulances will move faster, and patient access will improve.
Murad Ali Shah highlighted the need to protect heritage structures. He assured that officials will restore and preserve historic buildings. However, they will still add modern infrastructure where needed.
The government will create a joint board to oversee the project. This board will include experts from both public and private sectors. Therefore, the Civil Hospital Plan will move forward quickly and efficiently.
