Murree Police Issue Travel Advisory as Heavy Rain and Landslides Threaten Region
Murree Police have issued a high-level travel advisory for the region. District Police Officer Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer delivered the warning. The meteorological department forecasts severe weather for the next ten days. The period runs from April 1 through April 10.
The DPO highlighted specific physical dangers from this weather system. Heavy downpours significantly increase the probability of landslides. Dangerous rocks may fall from mountain slopes. Both pose a lethal threat to commuters.
Zero Visibility and Extreme Conditions
Dense fog will accompany the storms. Visibility could drop to zero in some areas. Mountain navigation becomes nearly impossible under these conditions. Travelers must check updated weather forecasts before departing. Vehicles need proper equipment for extreme conditions.
The meteorological outlook shows intense atmospheric instability. Heavy torrential rains and frequent thunderstorms are expected. Significant hailstorms will also affect the region. The most critical days are Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4. These days carry an 80% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will drop to a chilling 4°C.
Emergency Services on High Alert
The district administration has put all emergency services on high alert. Rescue services are also fully prepared. The DPO encouraged tourists to use the “Safe Tourism Murree” mobile application. It provides real-time updates on conditions. Travelers can also contact the police helpline at 15 for emergencies.
Citizens are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution. Avoid unnecessary travel until the weather subsides. Police remain stationed to provide assistance. However, safety ultimately depends on individual responsibility.
