Murree Police Launch Safe Tourism App for Visitors
The Murree Police have launched a new “Safe Tourism App”. This initiative follows Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision. It transforms traditional policing into a smart, tech-driven security system. Tourists can now access help with just a few taps.
A 24/7 Virtual Tourist Guide
District Police Officer Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer shared details with reporters. He said the app meets international standards. It serves as a round-the-clock “Virtual Tourist Guide”. Multiple departments are integrated into one digital platform. These include Police, Rescue 1122, and the District Administration. Traffic Police, Motorway Police, and the Meteorological Department are also connected.
Key Features for Safety and Convenience
The app provides immediate access to emergency services. Users receive live weather and traffic updates. A “Virtual Women Police Station” prioritizes safety for women and families. An AI-powered chatbot offers instant guidance on navigation and routes.
For accountability, a “Text to DPO” facility is available. Tourists can lodge complaints directly via WhatsApp. The “Smart Tourism Directory” lists essential locations. Users can find police stations, hotels, and hospitals. Verified recreational sites with GPS-enabled live locations are also included.
Ensuring Pleasant Memories
Dr Tanveer emphasized the app’s purpose. It seeks to safeguard Murree’s hospitality through modern technology. The goal is to ensure tourists return home with pleasant memories. He urged all visitors to download the app before travelling. It is now available on the Google Play Store.
