Murree Tourist Ban Imposed as Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Life

The administration has imposed a Murree tourist ban after heavy snowfall blanketed the hill station. Authorities took the step to protect visitors from accidents and harsh weather. As a result, officials have restricted tourist entry until conditions improve.
Snowfall continues across Murree and nearby areas. Therefore, the administration and emergency departments remain on high alert. Officials say safety remains the top priority during this weather spell.

Snowfall Triggers Emergency Measures

Heavy snowfall has also closed Tirah Road, causing several vehicles to get stranded. However, the district administration responded quickly to the situation. Rescue teams have started evacuation efforts to assist affected passengers.
Authorities are providing food and shelter to stranded people. In addition, teams are shifting families to safer locations. These measures aim to reduce risks and prevent further hardship.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has deployed rescue resources. Rescue 1122 sent 15 trained personnel from Peshawar to Tirah. Moreover, teams carried ambulances, recovery vehicles, medical supplies, and rescue equipment.

Roads Closed, Power Disrupted

Snow clearance operations are underway on major roads. However, access remains difficult in remote and outlying areas. As a result, daily life has slowed significantly.
Several localities are also facing power outages. Officials blame damaged lines and heavy snow accumulation. Therefore, utility teams are working to restore electricity as soon as possible.
The Director General PDMA has directed all district administrations to stay alert. He said he is personally monitoring the situation across the province. Meanwhile, coordination between departments continues.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, snowfall may continue until Friday evening. Authorities have advised residents and travelers to avoid unnecessary travel. They urge people to stay indoors until the weather improves.
The Murree tourist ban will remain in effect for now. Officials say they will review the situation regularly. Until then, safety remains the government’s highest concern.
