Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has stressed the pivotal role of tourism in Pakistan’s development, highlighting its power to drive economic growth and foster cultural understanding. Speaking on the eve of World Tourism Day, he noted that tourism is not only an economic resource but also a way to promote unity, cooperation, and respect among different communities.
He pointed to Pakistan’s rich historical legacy, breathtaking natural beauty, and cultural diversity as assets that make the country a unique destination for international and domestic travellers. From sacred sites to scenic valleys, he said, Pakistan has immense potential to benefit from both cultural and religious tourism.
Ayaz Sadiq underlined that the government is actively working to facilitate pilgrims from different faiths, including Sikh, Hindu, and Buddhist communities, by easing visa processes and improving access to important religious and spiritual landmarks. This, he said, reflects Pakistan’s commitment to interfaith harmony and global cultural engagement.
He also highlighted the unique attractions of the Kalash Valley and the ancient sites of the Gandhara Civilization, which showcase the region’s shared history and appeal to tourists interested in exploring diverse traditions. These destinations, he remarked, not only promote cultural appreciation but also strengthen Pakistan’s soft image worldwide.
The Speaker described Pakistan’s remarkable range of landscapes—from the snow-capped peaks and glaciers of the north to lush green valleys, pristine lakes, vast deserts, and serene coastal areas. Such natural diversity, he said, offers opportunities for adventure tourism, eco-tourism, and leisure travel, making the country an ideal choice for visitors with varied interests.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasised that promoting tourism could generate jobs, uplift local communities, preserve heritage, and contribute significantly to national exports. He stressed that investing in the tourism sector is a path toward sustainable socio-economic growth. By unlocking its vast natural and cultural resources, Pakistan could not only strengthen its economy but also foster harmony and pride among its people.
