NC America Partners with emptyvessel to Publish Cyberpunk Shooter DEFECT

NC America announces a publishing partnership with independent developer emptyvessel for the close-quarter cyberpunk shooter DEFECT. DEFECT cyberpunk shooter features team-based, objective-driven first-person gameplay with cooperative multiplayer focus. The partnership allows emptyvessel to expand foundational support for multiplayer while developing new single-player content. Founded in 2023 by industry veterans Emanuel Palalic and Garrett Young, emptyvessel’s team boasts over 100 years of combined experience. The developers have worked on major franchises including DOOM, Quake, Call of Duty, and The Last of Us. DEFECT is set in a dystopian city ruled by a divisive, enigmatic AI known as THE SYSTEM. Ruthless gangs and rogue law enforcement vie for supremacy throughout the urban landscape. Players can train in single-player mode for a deep offline experience.

Gameplay and Modes

The game offers 4v4v4v4 PvP squads for explosive, close-quarter firefights. Dynamic multi-objective battles feature advanced weapons and cutting-edge tech. The intense gameplay shows great promise against today’s tough FPS landscape. NC America worked closely with emptyvessel from the very start of development.
The partnership provides stability and publishing power for the studio’s vision. NC’s support helps build a strong foundation for DEFECT’s single-player experience. Many publishers have moved away from supporting single-player in games recently. It’s refreshing to have NCSOFT’s support and trust in what emptyvessel is building.

Development and Availability

DEFECT is currently in development for multiple platforms with a release date to be revealed. The game is available on the wishlist now on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.com. A trailer showcases the intense tactical shooter gameplay for interested players. The partnership locks in the goal of bringing DEFECT to the world alongside a strong ally.
Emptyvessel gains stability to focus resources on both multiplayer and single-player gameplay. The agreement enables NC America to publish DEFECT on multiple platforms later. Fans craving adrenaline-packed cooperative multiplayer experiences should keep this on their radar. DEFECT represents a promising new entry in the competitive FPS landscape.
