A new ship breaking yard in Karachi will soon begin operations. Director Cargo Operations at Port Qasim, Zaheer Uddin Talpur, shared the news during the PIMEC event. The project marks a major step toward expanding Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure.

The ship breaking and building yard will strengthen Karachi’s position as a key port city. It will also support economic growth through local employment and industrial development. In addition, the initiative will encourage investment in Pakistan’s blue economy.
Talpur emphasized the importance of this project for both shipbuilding and recycling sectors. According to him, the facility will follow international environmental and safety standards. As a result, it will help modernize the ship dismantling process and reduce waste.
