Nobel Peace Prize Winner Machado Honored as Daughter Highlights Venezuela’s Fight for Freedom

The Venezuela freedom movement received global attention during this year’s Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. María Corina Machado could not attend the event in Oslo, yet her message reached the world through her daughter. Ana Corina Sosa delivered both the acceptance speech and the lecture written by her mother.

A Powerful Message from Oslo

Machado’s daughter told the audience that her mother remains committed to a free Venezuela. She said Machado will “never give up on that purpose,” no matter the challenges ahead. Therefore, the ceremony became a moment of hope for many Venezuelans.
The Nobel Institute confirmed that Machado is safe. However, she could not travel in time for the ceremony scheduled for 12:00 GMT on Wednesday. In addition, officials noted that she still plans to visit Oslo when the situation allows.

Recognition of a Lifelong Struggle

The Nobel Committee awarded Machado the prize for her long fight for democracy. They praised her work to promote a peaceful transition from dictatorship to freedom. As a result, the award highlights both her courage and the ongoing struggle within Venezuela.
Her daughter explained that the speech reflected the voices of millions seeking justice. For example, she spoke about families separated by political conflict. She also mentioned young people who dream of a safe and inclusive future. These stories added emotional depth to the ceremony.
International observers see the award as a key moment in Latin American politics. In addition, it signals growing support for democratic movements across the region. Many hope the recognition will encourage dialogue and peaceful change.
Sosa ended her remarks with a message of unity. She said the people of Venezuela deserve dignity, respect, and the chance to shape their future. The ceremony closed with applause, symbolizing global solidarity with those who continue to push for freedom.
