Operation Swift Retort Anniversary Marked with Renewed PAF Resolve
The Operation Swift Retort anniversary was marked with pride at Air Headquarters. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu addressed the ceremony. He said Pakistan remains a responsible country that seeks peace with honour.
He recalled that seven years ago, an aggressor challenged Pakistan’s sovereignty. However, he said the Pakistan Air Force responded with precision and resolve. That response, he added, restored deterrence against a larger adversary.
Air Chief Highlights Modernization Drive
The Air Chief said the enemy attacked under the cover of darkness. In contrast, PAF delivered a measured daylight response. As a result, the force re-established credible deterrence in the region. He stressed that modern warfare continues to evolve rapidly. Therefore, PAF launched a comprehensive modernization and indigenization drive in March 2021. Despite fiscal constraints, the force pushed forward with determination.
Moreover, PAF updated its operational doctrine to meet new challenges. It inducted advanced combat and support systems in record time. In addition, it developed a home-grown kill chain using unmanned systems, electronic warfare, space, and cyber assets. He explained that this approach strengthened multi-domain capabilities. Consequently, PAF improved coordination across air, land, cyber, and space domains.
Marka-e-Haq and Renewed Commitment
Referring to Marka-e-Haq in May 2025, the Air Chief said PAF delivered a powerful response. He stated that the force executed full-spectrum multi-domain operations with precision. According to him, PAF downed advanced aircraft, including Rafale, SU-30 MKI, Mirage-2000, and MiG-29 jets, along with unmanned systems.
Furthermore, PAF struck key bases and neutralized advanced S-400 air defence systems. He said these actions demonstrated capability and preparedness. The nation and the Pakistan Air Force commemorated the anniversary together. Leaders described Operation Swift Retort as a symbol of unity, professionalism, and credible deterrence. The Air Chief reaffirmed that PAF will continue to safeguard sovereignty and remain a source of national pride.
