Pak Uzbek Pact Gains Momentum as Economic Cooperation Expands

The Pak Uzbek Pact entered a new phase with fresh commitments on economic collaboration.
Leaders from both sides stressed long-term cooperation that supports inclusive regional growth.
Islamabad hosted the tenth session of the Intergovernmental Commission this week.
Officials focused on practical steps to improve trade, investment, and institutional efficiency.

Trade Targets and Faster Systems

Both countries agreed to raise bilateral trade to two billion dollars. Therefore, participants supported faster approval systems and clearer coordination channels. The meeting welcomed progress on phase two of the preferential trade framework.
In addition, authorities agreed to expand cooperation across logistics and commercial services. Customs digitalization received special attention during the talks. As a result, businesses can expect smoother cross border procedures.

Connectivity and Workforce Cooperation

Delegations approved the launch of direct air links between major cities. This move will help people, goods, and ideas travel more easily. The commission also endorsed a joint working group on labor mobility.
For example, the group will focus on skills matching and fair employment access. Such steps aim to strengthen people-to-people connections. Moreover, they support inclusive economic participation for diverse communities.

Agriculture, Climate, and Future Priorities

Both sides highlighted cooperation in agriculture and food security. Progress on plant health standards showed steady technical coordination. Environmental and climate cooperation emerged as shared priorities. Therefore, future projects will align with sustainability goals.
The session also promoted collaboration in energy, minerals, information technology, and small enterprises. These sectors can drive innovation and job creation. Officials confirmed the next commission meeting will take place in Tashkent. The continued dialogue reflects strong commitment to long term partnership.
