Pakistan Criticizes India for Withholding Flood Data, Condemns Israeli Aggression on Qatar

Pakistan has accused India of failing to provide detailed flood-related data despite obligations under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said on Friday that India shared only “limited information or alerts about water levels in rivers through diplomatic channels” instead of using the formal mechanism of the Indus Waters Commission.
‎‎Addressing the weekly press briefing, the spokesperson also said that Pakistan has yet to decide on launching an international appeal for donations to support flood victims, adding that the modalities for such an initiative are still being finalized.
‎Turning to regional developments, Khan condemned Israeli attacks on Qatar, warning that “repeated Israeli aggressions against Muslim countries pose a danger to regional and international peace and stability.” He confirmed Pakistan’s participation in the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on September 15, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will join leaders to frame a joint response to Israel’s actions.
‎The spokesperson declared Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar, calling the assault a violation of sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter. He stated, “We reaffirm our principled position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar and call upon the international community to hold Israel accountable.”
‎Sharif recently traveled to Doha to personally express support, meeting with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
‎‎Khan also noted that President Asif Zardari’s visit to China was pre-planned, while clarifying that matters of foreign policy remain the federal government’s domain, not provincial. He highlighted the upcoming UN General Assembly session as a key diplomatic event, with Pakistan’s delegation currently being finalized.
