Pakistan Rejects Jaishankar Remarks, Defends Indus Treaty Rights

Pakistan on Saturday firmly rejected comments made by India’s external affairs minister. Officials said the remarks ignored facts and increased regional tension. The response strongly defended Indus Treaty Rights under international law.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan would take all necessary steps to protect its lawful interests. Moreover, it warned that unilateral actions could damage trust between neighbors. As a result, regional stability could suffer.

Pakistan Warns Against Treaty Violations

The Foreign Office responded to remarks delivered by S. Jaishankar at an event in Madras. Officials stated that any violation of the Indus Waters Treaty would remain unacceptable. Therefore, Pakistan considers the treaty a non-negotiable commitment.
Spokespersons recalled Pakistan’s repeated concerns over India’s unilateral measures. They described such actions as illegal and dangerous. In addition, they said these steps challenge India’s claim of respecting international obligations.
Officials also rejected indirect accusations related to terrorism. They argued that India continues to deflect attention from its own actions. Consequently, such statements only deepen mistrust.

Terrorism Allegations and Regional Concerns

Pakistan accused India of promoting instability in the region. Officials said the international community already knows about India’s alleged covert activities. For example, they cited the arrest of Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav in 2016.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi raised concern over alleged extrajudicial killings and sabotage. He said these incidents show a troubling pattern. Furthermore, he linked such actions to extremist ideologies.
The spokesperson also claimed that India supports militant groups operating from Afghanistan. According to him, banned TTP fighters conduct cross-border attacks with external backing. However, he stressed that Pakistan continues to support peace.
Pakistan also reiterated its stance on Jammu and Kashmir. Officials described the situation as a serious threat to regional peace. Therefore, Pakistan reaffirmed its political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan remains committed to dialogue, fairness, and international law. Ultimately, it urged responsible conduct to ensure lasting regional stability.
