Pakistan Relief Subsidies Expanded to Ease Public Burden

Pakistan Relief Subsidies Expanded to Ease Public Burden

The government has expanded Pakistan relief subsidies to support citizens during rising inflation. Shehbaz Sharif said officials will take every possible step to provide relief. He shared this during a meeting on subsidies and fuel reserves.
Officials briefed him on progress and fuel availability. They confirmed that Pakistan has enough reserves to meet demand. Therefore, the government aims to maintain stability while easing public pressure.

Transport Support and Subsidy Plan

The government has introduced subsidies for transport vehicles. Passenger buses will receive Rs100,000 per month. Meanwhile, mini-buses and wagons will get Rs40,000 to control fare hikes.
In addition, trucks will receive Rs70,000 and heavy cargo vehicles Rs80,000 monthly. Delivery vans will get Rs35,000 to support goods movement. As a result, authorities expect to control rising prices of food and essentials.
The prime minister said officials will distribute funds through digital wallets. This system ensures transparency and quick payments. Moreover, authorities released the subsidies earlier than planned on his directive.

Broader Relief Measures and Response

The government has delivered Rs129 billion in relief over the past three weeks. However, the prime minister urged provinces to share their contributions quickly. He also praised Sarfraz Bugti for timely support.
In addition, the government reduced the petrol levy by Rs80 per litre. It also provided Rs6 billion to Pakistan Railways to maintain fares. Authorities also reversed a planned 25 percent toll tax increase.
Senior officials, including Ishaq Dar, attended the meeting. The government aims to balance relief with economic stability. Therefore, it continues to monitor the situation closely and act when needed.
