Pakistan to Temporarily Close Airspace for Military Precautions on Oct 28–29
Pakistan will temporarily close its airspace for three hours on October 28 and 29. The restriction will apply from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued a NOTAM to all airlines and aviation operators. This Pakistan airspace closure comes as regional military activity intensifies near the western border
Airspace Restrictions and Timings
The NOTAM confirms that the airspace will remain restricted for three hours daily. Airlines must adjust their flight schedules during this period. Therefore, passengers should check with their airlines for any delays or reroutes.
Meanwhile, India plans a large tri-service exercise called Trishul 2025 from October 30 to November 10. The drill will take place near Pakistan’s border areas. As a result, India has also limited its airspace over Gujarat and Rajasthan during the exercise.
Regional Context and Security
Recent events have heightened tensions between the two neighbors. In April, India accused Pakistan of supporting an attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan rejected the claim and called for an international investigation.
In May, border clashes briefly erupted before a ceasefire ended the violence. Therefore, Pakistan’s temporary airspace restriction appears to be a precautionary measure. The Pakistan Navy also reaffirmed its readiness to protect national frontiers amid ongoing military activities.
