PCJCCI Hails Peaceful Basant Festival as Boost for Pakistan Tourism and Culture

The Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry has praised the Punjab government. It commended the successful organization of a peaceful and well-coordinated Basant festival. The event marks a commendable step toward reviving Pakistan’s rich cultural traditions.
PCJCCI President Nazir Hussain stated the festival reflects strong government commitment. It promotes cultural activities in a responsible and secure manner. Therefore, such events are vital for strengthening national identity.
“Smooth conduct sends a positive message to the international community,” he added. It signals Pakistan’s stability and cultural openness to the world.

A Boost for Tourism and Soft Image

Cultural festivals directly benefit Pakistan’s global perception. They play a crucial role in boosting domestic and international tourism. Furthermore, they significantly improve Pakistan’s soft image abroad.
The chamber’s Senior Vice President highlighted the potential for growth. Basant can evolve into an internationally recognized cultural landmark. This requires broader, well-planned, and institutionalized organization.
Inviting foreign delegations is a key recommendation. Specifically, artists and representatives from China can enhance people-to-people connectivity. Joint cultural performances and exhibitions can serve as an effective soft-power bridge. This reinforces Pakistan-China friendship beyond traditional economic cooperation.

Economic and Cultural Synergy

The economic impact extends beyond tourism revenue. PCJCCI Vice President Zafar Iqbal highlighted support for local businesses. Artisans, small traders, and the entire hospitality sector benefit directly.
Regular cultural festivals complement economic cooperation under CPEC. They create an enabling environment for tourism development. They also foster creative industries and meaningful cross-cultural engagement.
The chamber strongly encourages the government to continue this path. Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif emphasized safe, inclusive, and well-managed festivals. Structured cultural exchange programmes aligned with existing cooperation frameworks can deepen mutual understanding.
The PCJCCI expressed strong optimism for the future. It hopes the government will institutionalize such cultural initiatives. Sustainable and inclusive celebrations will contribute to social harmony, international goodwill, and long-term economic growth.
