Pipri Logistics Corridor Launched as Pakistan Moves Toward Modern Trade Network

Pakistan has made strong progress on a landmark logistics initiative valued at four hundred million dollars. The project brings together the National Logistics Cell, Pakistan Railways, and DP World. This partnership signals growing confidence in Pakistan’s transport and trade potential.

Integrated Transport Infrastructure

Authorities have officially launched construction of the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Multimodal Logistics Park at Pipri. A formal inauguration ceremony marked the occasion. Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and DP World Group Chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem attended as chief guests. Senior officials from partner organisations also participated.
The Multimodal Logistics Park will integrate rail, road, and port services at one location. This setup will reduce delays and improve cargo handling. As a result, businesses will benefit from smoother operations and lower costs.
The Dedicated Freight Corridor will support heavy cargo movement across key routes. Therefore, freight trains will operate with better schedules and efficiency. Officials expect reduced congestion on existing rail networks.

Boost to Regional Trade

The corridor will improve trade links with China, Central Asia, and other regional countries. Faster transport will help exporters reach markets quickly. In addition, importers will gain from predictable delivery timelines.
Leaders described the project as historic for Pakistan’s supply chain development. However, they stressed the need for timely completion. Strong coordination among stakeholders remains essential.
This logistics upgrade will attract regional investment and enhance competitiveness. As a result, Pakistan will strengthen its position as a regional trade and transit hub.
