Prime Minister Electric Bike Scheme 2026 Launched Under PAVE Programme
The Prime Minister Electric Bike Scheme has officially launched under the PAVE programme. The government aims to promote affordable and eco-friendly transport across Pakistan. Officials say the initiative will support low-income citizens and reduce fuel costs. As a result, thousands of people can access cleaner mobility options this year.
The government has allocated Rs100 billion for the programme over five years. For the current fiscal year, it has set aside Rs9 billion. Therefore, authorities plan to distribute 116,000 electric motorcycles with financial support.
Subsidy Details and Distribution Plan
Under the Prime Minister Electric Bike Scheme, buyers will receive Rs80,000 per electric motorcycle. In addition, the programme offers Rs400,000 per electric rickshaw. Officials say electric motorcycles now cost Rs50,000 to Rs60,000 less than similar market models.
The Engineering Development Board confirmed that authorities aim to distribute 76,000 motorcycles by June. Moreover, leaders expect strong demand due to rising fuel prices.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
Applicants must hold Pakistani citizenship and a valid CNIC. They must fall between 18 and 65 years of age to apply for electric bikes. Furthermore, each applicant must present a valid driving licence or learner’s permit. Officials stress that only eligible individuals will receive the subsidy. Therefore, authorities will verify documents before approval. The government encourages young professionals, students, and delivery workers to apply.
Through the Prime Minister Electric Bike Scheme, leaders hope to reduce pollution and create jobs. They also aim to strengthen local manufacturing under the broader EV policy. In the coming months, officials expect the initiative to transform urban transport nationwide.
