PTA 5G Licenses in Pakistan Expected Before Eid-ul-Fitr Launch

PTA 5G Licenses in Pakistan Expected Before Eid-ul-Fitr Launch

Mobile users across Pakistan may soon enjoy faster internet speeds. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority plans to issue PTA 5G licenses to telecom operators next week. As a result, companies could begin preparing for a possible 5G launch before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Officials accelerated preparations after the recent spectrum auction. The authority has already finalized the licensing documents. Therefore, telecom companies can move quickly toward launching the new service.
However, operators must complete several legal steps first. These requirements help ensure a smooth and fair rollout. In addition, the regulator wants all companies to follow the same rules before receiving approval.

Telecom Operators Complete Licensing Requirements

Telecom companies have started meeting the conditions required for their licenses. For example, each operator must submit a $15 million bank guarantee. This payment confirms their commitment to the new network rollout.
According to officials, one telecom company has already submitted the guarantee. Meanwhile, the other two operators plan to complete the process soon. As a result, the regulator expects all companies to qualify in the coming days.
In addition, telecom providers have begun technical preparations. Engineers continue upgrading towers and improving network infrastructure. These upgrades will support faster speeds and stronger connections once the service launches.
Industry experts believe these steps will help operators launch services quickly. Therefore, users could experience faster downloads and smoother streaming soon.|

Regulator Plans Simultaneous License Distribution

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority may issue licenses to all three operators at the same time. This approach will promote fair competition in the telecom sector. Moreover, it will allow companies to introduce services without delays.
Officials believe a simultaneous launch will speed up the expansion of next-generation networks. As a result, major cities could receive early access to advanced mobile connectivity.
However, nationwide coverage will take time. Telecom providers must still install equipment and upgrade many towers. Even so, early deployments may begin in urban areas.
If everything proceeds as planned, Pakistan could see its first commercial 5G services before Eid-ul-Fitr. Consequently, users may soon enjoy faster mobile internet and better digital experiences.
