Punjab Launches Sound Control Drive to Enforce Wedding Rules

The Punjab administration has launched a sound control drive across the province to regulate weddings and social gatherings. Authorities aim to enforce the One Dish rule and stop illegal loudspeaker use. The campaign reflects a push toward order, simplicity, and community respect.
Officials confirmed that enforcement teams have started inspections statewide. As a result, violators now face immediate legal action. The effort targets fairness while supporting inclusive social norms.

Strict Orders on Events and Venues

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to act without delay. She stressed that authorities must apply the One Dish rule consistently. In addition, she highlighted the need to cut wasteful spending and discourage excess.
The chief minister also ordered action against loud music and unauthorized equipment. Therefore, officials will closely watch Qawwali nights, concerts, and private functions. Authorities warned that offenders will receive no special treatment.
Farmhouses and open-air venues now fall under the same regulations as halls. Organizers must follow food limits and audio restrictions. Clear instructions ensure equal enforcement in urban and rural areas.

Monitoring, Timings, and Accountability

Authorities will also enforce fixed closing times for all gatherings. Venues must end events within approved hours. As a result, late-night disturbances should decline.
The government barred public officers from attending rule-breaking events. This step promotes accountability and trust in enforcement. Officials stressed that example-setting remains essential.
According to administrators, the campaign seeks to improve civic behavior. It aims to reduce noise pollution and encourage responsible celebrations. Monitoring teams have already formed to track compliance.
Moreover, enforcement will remain uniform across districts. Officials confirmed that penalties will apply equally to all. These steps show a commitment to long-term social balance and respectful public conduct.
