Punjab Police Tighten Security as IGP Warns Against Unrest

Punjab police security has tightened across the province after IGP Dr. Usman Anwar issued a strong warning. He said officers will stop anyone who tries to take the law into their own hands. The warning comes amid rising tension over planned protests in Lahore and other cities.

IGP Warns Against Violence

Dr. Usman Anwar shared his message on the Punjab police X account. He promised to protect people’s lives and property while enforcing the law. The IGP said police officers stand with citizens and traders who rejected the protest call.
He condemned violent protests and arson. Police will take indiscriminate action against anyone who breaks the law. In addition, they will fully enforce Section 144, which bans gatherings of four or more people. The move aims to prevent chaos and protect both public and private property.

Government Plans Tough Measures

The Punjab government will recommend a ban on Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). It will also place TLP leaders on the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act. This list identifies people linked to extremism or terror-related activities.
Officials will arrest anyone spreading hate or violence. They will freeze party bank accounts and transfer assets to the Auqaf Department. Moreover, they will remove hateful online content and enforce the Loudspeaker Act.
Federal ministers support the crackdown and call TLP’s actions a threat to peace. Therefore, Punjab police security operations remain on high alert to protect every citizen.
