Punjab to Transform Healthcare in South with New Model and Tech

The Punjab government is launching two major healthcare initiatives. These projects will transform medical services in South Punjab. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique announced the plans. He reviewed the projects during a special meeting.
The initiatives focus on innovative models and modern technology. They aim to bring major relief to millions of residents. Minister Rafique emphasized the government’s commitment. He stated these efforts will modernize the region’s healthcare system.

Introducing the Hub and Spoke Model

A new pilot program will start in Zahir Pir. This is the **Hub and Spoke Model**. It connects a central healthcare hub to local Basic Health Units. Therefore, patients in rural areas get better access to care.
The model ensures a swift referral system. Complex cases move quickly to advanced centers. As a result, quality healthcare reaches people closer to home. The government plans to expand this model to other districts later.

Installing Advanced Diagnostic Machines

**Nishtar Hospital Multan** will receive critical new equipment. This includes **PET Scan and Cyclotron machines**. These tools provide advanced diagnostic services for diseases like cancer.
Previously, patients traveled long distances for these tests. Now, they can access modern care locally. Consequently, this saves patients time and reduces stress. It also eases the burden on big city hospitals.

A Focus on Swift and Transparent Implementation

Minister Rafique issued clear directives to officials. He demanded transparent and speedy project completion. Departments must install equipment and train staff promptly. Furthermore, they must submit performance reports on time.
The goal is to provide tangible relief quickly. These combined efforts represent a strategic healthcare investment. They promise a brighter, healthier future for South Punjab.
