Quinton de Kock’s Brilliant Century Leads South Africa to Victory Over Pakistan
Quinton de Kock delivered a batting masterclass in Faisalabad. His unbeaten 123 guided South Africa to a dominant eight-wicket win over Pakistan in the second ODI. With this victory, the series is now level at 1–1.
Chasing 270, South Africa started confidently. Lhuan-dre Pretorius and de Kock built an 81-run stand in just 11.5 overs. Pretorius, dropped early by Mohammad Nawaz, looked in great touch. He struck seven fours and a six on his way to 46 from 40 balls. However, he edged Mohammad Wasim to Mohammad Rizwan soon after.
De Kock stayed calm and composed. He reached his fifty from 55 balls and then switched gears beautifully. His timing and placement kept Pakistan’s bowlers under pressure throughout the innings.
De Zorzi’s Support Seals the Win
Tony de Zorzi joined de Kock after Pretorius’s exit and batted fearlessly. The pair added a stunning 153 runs for the second wicket. De Zorzi smashed 76 from 63 balls, including nine fours and three sixes.
He attacked spinners confidently, hitting Nawaz for two sixes in one over. His aggressive intent ensured South Africa never lost momentum. In the 35th over, he fell to Faheem Ashraf, but the job was nearly done.
De Kock finished the chase in 40.1 overs, sealing a well-deserved win. As a result, South Africa now head into the final ODI with renewed confidence.
