Rawalpindi Launches Automated E-Challan System
Rawalpindi has activated its new e-challan system for traffic violations. The automated system is linked to the Safe City Command and Control Centre. Vehicle owners will receive e-challans along with photos of the violation and a unique code. Fines must be paid within the specified timeframe.
Automated Traffic Enforcement
The e-challan system issues fines automatically for traffic signal violations. Instant tickets will also be generated for motorcyclists without helmets, lane violations, and mobile phone use while driving. Authorities aim to improve road discipline and safety across the city.
More than 2,000 cameras have been installed at 359 locations, while 15 cameras monitor city entry and exit points. The system allows continuous monitoring of major roads and public areas. Traffic management and traffic police performance evaluations are integrated into the setup.
Efficient Compliance and Monitoring
The system also targets non-standard and illegal number plates. Once a violation is recorded, a challan is issued and sent to the violator’s home. This ensures quicker and more efficient enforcement of traffic laws.
The initiative encourages citizens to follow traffic rules. It also reduces human error and helps authorities maintain discipline on busy city roads. As a result, Rawalpindi aims to lower accidents and improve public safety.
With the e-challan system in place, drivers can expect fair and transparent enforcement. The integration with CCTV cameras and the Safe City Command Centre makes monitoring real-time and reliable. Citizens are advised to drive safely and adhere to traffic regulations to avoid penalties.
