Rehman Card Scheme Approved in Punjab for Widows and Orphans

Rehman Card Scheme Approved in Punjab for Widows and Orphans

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the Rehman Card scheme to support widows and orphans across the province. She announced the decision during a meeting on social welfare initiatives in Lahore. The program aims to provide financial assistance to vulnerable families.
The chief minister said the government wants widows and orphans to feel supported. Therefore, the initiative focuses on helping people who struggle with financial hardship. She also stressed that the state must protect and support underprivileged communities.

Financial assistance for widows and orphans

The Rehman Card scheme will offer direct financial support to eligible individuals. Under the plan, each widow will receive Rs100,000 from the provincial government. In addition, every registered orphan will receive Rs25,000 as financial assistance.
Officials believe this support will help families manage basic needs. For example, the funds can help cover education, healthcare, and daily expenses. As a result, many families may experience relief during difficult times.
Maryam Nawaz said the government wants to ensure that vulnerable people do not feel abandoned. She added that public institutions must work together to provide meaningful assistance.
The chief minister also directed authorities to implement the program quickly. Moreover, she asked departments to ensure transparency during the distribution process.

Registration process for the scheme

Authorities have asked eligible individuals to complete the registration process as soon as possible. Widows and guardians of orphans can visit nearby offices of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Department.
Officials will verify applications before issuing benefits under the Rehman Card scheme. Therefore, applicants must provide the required documents during registration.
The provincial government believes the initiative will strengthen social protection across Punjab. In addition, leaders hope the program will help vulnerable families regain stability and confidence in the future.
