Reliance Announces Major Andhra AI Expansion With New 1GW Data Center

Reliance Industries surprised many with a bold move toward the Andhra AI Expansion. The company plans to build a 1 gigawatt AI data center in Andhra Pradesh. This project adds fresh momentum to India’s rapidly growing digital ecosystem.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu shared the news during a briefing. He did not reveal financial details, as discussions are still developing. However, the announcement still created strong excitement across the tech community.
Global companies continue to invest heavily in AI infrastructure. Demand keeps rising, and companies must create space for stronger computing needs. India plays a major role in this growth due to its massive online population. Nearly one billion people use the internet across the country, making it a powerful digital market.
Google recently announced a $15 billion plan to build its own AI data center in Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, Reliance’s new project adds more strength to the region’s emerging tech landscape. Microsoft and Amazon have also made significant investments, supporting the demand for reliable data capacity.

Growing Capacity

Reliance aims to link the new center with its existing facility in Jamnagar. Together, both sites will form one of Asia’s most capable AI networks. This plan reflects the company’s long term commitment to digital growth in India.
AI technology requires huge clusters of chips. These clusters deliver the power needed to train and run advanced models. As a result, companies must develop facilities that can support large scale processing. The new project meets that need while creating more opportunities for future expansion.
Reliance Group operates a wide range of businesses. It includes Jio, a major telecom provider, along with a strong retail division and multiple media networks. The team continues to explore new digital paths to support India’s evolving tech journey.
Leaders believe the expansion will help the country compete in the global AI race. It also signals confidence in India’s future as an innovation hub. In addition, the project will likely create jobs, attract new skills, and support fresh partnerships.
The new data center marks an important step toward stronger digital infrastructure. It also reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s growing reputation as a key technology destination.
