Sector G7 Tragedy: Wedding Explosion Kills Eight in Islamabad

The Sector G7 tragedy shocked Islamabad on Sunday morning. A powerful explosion struck a house during wedding celebrations. As a result, eight people lost their lives, including the newlywed couple.
Officials confirmed that 12 others suffered injuries. Rescue teams rushed to the scene within minutes. Meanwhile, hospitals activated emergency protocols to handle the crisis.

Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts

Doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences received several victims. Medical staff treated burn injuries and trauma cases. However, one injured person remained in critical condition.
In addition, authorities transferred two bodies and one injured person to Capital Hospital. Emergency teams used modern equipment to clear debris. Therefore, they rescued everyone trapped under the rubble.
Islamabad officials said the blast damaged at least four nearby houses. One home collapsed completely. As a precaution, rescue workers continued safety checks after the incident.

Investigation and Official Reactions

Administrators ordered an immediate inquiry into the cause. Early findings suggest a gas cylinder or leakage issue. However, investigators will submit a final report soon.
The father of the groom described heartbreaking scenes. He recalled waking up to a loud sound and devastation. Sadly, close family members also died in the incident.
National leaders expressed deep sorrow. Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared condolences. Moreover, the prime minister directed hospitals to provide full medical care.
Officials assured families about compensation. Verification may take several days. Still, authorities promised timely support.
This heartbreaking event turned joy into mourning. Therefore, leaders urged strict safety checks and public awareness. They stressed responsible use of gas equipment to prevent future disasters.
